The Delhi government’s Expenditure Finance Committee sanctioned around Rs 30 crore for the construction of a temporary structure.

It is attached to Dr BR Ambedkar Hospital in Rohini and construction work on the permanent structure is on progress.

This move of Delhi government will help in boosting the medical education in the national capital.

“Approval for construction of medical college under temporary structure will help the Health Department in filing formal applications as per the Medical Council of India norms. The experience of other States, Municipal Corporation of Delhi, ESI and others has shown that colleges are started in temporary structures and then moved to permanent structure with the passage of time,” said an official.

According to the official, once the permanent medical college will be built, the pre-fabricated structure will be used for low-end facilities such as laboratories and storage facilities.
