New Delhi: The Delhi government is mulling to construct another mega rail terminal near Shakurbasti Railway Station in Punjabi Bagh area.

In a letter to Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit proposed a new mega rail terminal on the vacant land near Shakurbasti Railway Station in Punjabi Bagh area.

The proposed railway project will ease traffic congestion on city roads, Delhi CM wrote in the letter.
According to the sources, if Railway Ministry approves the proposal, trains going towards Himachal Pradesh,

Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan will pass through Shakurbasti Railway Station. Old Delhi and New Delhi railway stations will be less congested, sources added.

Public Works Department Minister of Delhi, Rajkumar Chauhan has raised the issue with Central government several times.
