New Delhi: Despite cracking the whip on tobacco sellers near educational institutions, the Delhi Government seems to have failed to curb the sale of tobacco products in the vicinity of schools and colleges.

In a bid to expedite the move against the selling of tobacco products, the state government would approach the Delhi Police Commissioner BK Gupta to intervene into the matter.

Highlighting the government’s move in this regard, Delhi Health Minister AK Walia said that as many as 1,57,714 raids have conducted to arrest tobacco sellers till March 31 and 20,530 people slapped fine.

The Minister said that selling of tobacco products is going on near educational institutions in outer Delhi and trans Yamuna areas.
