New Delhi: Eyeing the Assembly polls scheduled later this year, the Delhi government is likely to take concrete decision on expediting the construction of Mono Rail to be run between Shashtri Park and Trilokpuri.

The government is considering the report presented by Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the early completion of Mono Rail project.

The DMRC has submitted detailed report over procuring funds for the completion of project. Rs 2, 235 crore is expected to be incurred on the construction of first line of the Mono Rail.

DMRC has suggested Central and Delhi government to bear 40 percent of the total cost to be incurred on the construction of Mono rail.

In addition to it, the DMRC will borrow a loan worth Rs 1069 crore from Japan International Cooperation Agency (JIKA) for timely completion of the project.

Meanwhile, for raising the funds for Mono Rail, the government will adopt the same formula it assumed in case of Delhi Metro.
