New Delhi: The Delhi government has decided to form a separate agency to look after the maintenance of footpaths, furniture and greenery that were developed during the Commonwealth Games last year.

According to a senior official, the agency will also take up responsibility for upkeep of the work done around the PWD roads in the national capital.

He said Rs 10 crore has been earmarked for this work.

The agency is said to keep an eye on cleanliness of roads and for this purpose, a technical system will be adopted for the first time in the national capital.

Moreover, the agency will also be accountable for upkeep of the expensive plants, floors and lights installed along the roads.

It should be noted that the state government had spent Rs 300 crore for the beautification of the 50 kilometre of roads and Rs 70 crore were spent on forestry.
