New Delhi: Taking cognizance of a letter from the Juvenile Justice Committee, High Court put on hold the decision of Delhi Government to form a statutory committee for monitoring child rehabilitation centres.

A two judge bench of Chief Justice Deepak Mishra and Justice Sanjiv Khanna ruled out the state government decision on the ground of Juvenile Justice Act violation.

The bench argued that there is already a 10-member statutory committee to monitor child rehabilitation centres.

Asking the Delhi government to submit answer in this regard within two weeks, the High Court suggested the government to form a committee to monitor homes made for beggars, homeless pregnant women and others.

Earlier, Justice Mukta Gupta who is a member of Juvenile Justice Committee had written a letter to the High Court mentioning the Delhi government decision of forming a parallel statutory committee.
