Announcing the helpline number, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said that the main objective of this initiative is to collect data and maintain a record of these unscheduled power cuts. Keeping these data as the basis, the Chief Minister said, explanations will be sought from power distribution companies. He further said that if their reasons are found unsatisfactory or unreasonable they will be penalized.

Kejriwal said that the schedule of power cuts of an entire week has been uploaded on the website www.delhisldc.org. The power companies have already mentioned about scheduled power cuts in various parts of the city on the website.

Meanwhile, the AAP government has also announced an anti-graft helpline number 1031. The new number has replaced the eight-digit number launched two days back which received a whopping 23,500 calls.
