New Delhi: In the wake of the bomb blast in Delhi High Court, the construction of the multi-storey underground parking in the court premises has gained momentum.

With the space of accommodating 1600 cars, the parking will be ready in two months that would also help in better surveillance of the high court campus.

After a meeting held on Thursday, Kirti Uppal, vice president of Delhi High Court Bar Association said, “We are making all efforts to resolve the security and parking problem at earliest.  We have sought the details which showcases the progress of the ongoing work.”

The five-storey underground parking would be fully computerized. The parking would be constructed in such a way that after parking the car, judges, lawyers and court staff among others would be able to reach the court building directly through an underground path.

In order to beef up the security of the high court, cars would be scanned at the parking gate with the help of the modern security system.

It is noteworthy that the construction of the parking which is going on from past three years was to be completed a year ago. But due to the various obstacles like construction of Dome near parking area or the delay in sanction of the map by Delhi Urban Art Commission, the construction was stopped or delayed several times. Besides, precious time was wasted in taking approval from several other agencies.

However, such issues were resolved by March 2011 and the construction gained pace thereafter.
