Delhi: Chhath puja will finally begin today with devotees worshipping the setting sun but unfortunately the preparations at the Chhath ghats in Delhi are incomplete. Chief Minister Shiela Dikshit is miffed over the arrangements and has asked all three Municipal commissioners to speed up work and make the ghats ready before the Puja.

Meanwhile, the Delhi government has expressed gratitude to Haryana for agreeing to release 400 cusec of water down stream of Wazirabad to ensure an adequate flow in the river. Chief Secretary P K Tripathi is in constant touch with Haryana administration so that the water released reaches Delhi in time.

On the other hand, Parliamentary secretary Mukesh Sharma inspected the Chhath ghats in west Delhi and found preparations at the Hastsal ghat to be extremely poor. Sharma pinned the blame on BJP saying that the party is busy playing politics over Chhath holidays instead of cooperating with them to clean the ghats.
He further said that Chhat ghats are being created in Pratap Garden, Bindapur and Water Body Park which will be completed before the Chhath Puja.
