New Delhi: Keeping in mind the heavy rush on the auspicious occasion of Raksha Bandhan on August 13, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has decided increase the frequency of metro trains on the day. On Raksha Bandhan, the metro trains will make an addition 200 trips on different route. For the purpose, DMRC has decided to deploy addition employees.

Generally, nearly 15 trains are withdrawn from the tracks between 12.30pm and 4.30pm. Collectively, all the metro trains make 2,500 trips per day. However, on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, the trains will do 200 extra trips.

According to DMRC spokesperson Anuj Dayal, 12.02 lakh passengers travelled by metro last year on Raksha Bandhan. “This year we have made special arrangements for Raksha Bandhan. On an average, 17 lakh passengers travel daily by metro,” he added.

The extra manpower will be deployed at Dilshad Garden, Shahdara, Welcome, Seelampur , Shastri Park, Pitampura, Rohini East, Rohini West, Rithala, Jahangirpuri , Adarsh Nagar, GTB Nagar, Yamuna Bank, Uttam Nagar East, Nawada, Noida City Centre, Botanical Garden, Noida Sec-18, MG Road, HUDA City Centre, Sarita Vihar, Lajpat Nagr, Badarpur Peeragarhi, Nangloi, Mundka and several other metro stations.
