New Delhi: In a bid to totally eradicate drinking and driving from the national capital the Delhi Traffic Police has stepped up its approach against the menace and has come up with a new initiative.

Apart from informing people about hazards of drunk driving through several campaigns and newspapers, the traffic police has decided to engage pub, bar and restaurants owners in their efforts.

Also, the traffic police will put up hoardings at various places across the city to create awareness among people.
According to the traffic police, drinking and driving is one of the main reasons for maximum road mishaps. The drunk drivers risk lives of other people on road as well.

Joint Commissioner (Traffic) Satyendra Garg said the police has identified areas where hoardings will be erected. “Firstly, we will put up six hoardings at two places in Khan Market after which hoardings will come up at nearby pubs, bar restaurants,” said Garg.

“We will also hold meetings with the owners of bar and restaurants and put posters inside the pubs which will educate people on the hazards of drunk driving and also inform them about the strict action against such an act,” Garg added.
