New Delhi: The students of government schools in Delhi will be taking computer lessons on systems that are not only second-hand but also tainted. The Education Directorate of Delhi government has purchased 800 computers from the Organizing Committee of Commonwealth Games.

These are the same machines which are under CBI scanner as they were allegedly purchased after paying an inflated amount.
This is for the first time that schools have been provided with second hand tools. And if that was not enough, these computers have been purchased when Delhi government sacked hundreds of computer teachers in March.

The entire episode came to light from the two circulars of the Education Directorate, a copy of which is available with Dainik Jagran. The circular, which was issued by Assistant Director Nitya Nand, said, “The department purchased computers that were used during the Commonwealth Games from the Organizing Committee.”

As per the circular, the contract to install all these computers was awarded to Zest System Private Ltd. Himanshu, an executive of the company, said the company has been given tender only to install the computers in schools.

The fact that these computers were bought despite clouds of suspicion hovering over them, defies all logic.
