New Delhi: Impressed with the skill development programmes in Singapore, Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit wishes to open institutes to enhance the skills of the youth in the national capital.

Dikshit said that by opening such centres, the state government will take forward the Prime Minister’s skill development mission.

She said that Singapore provides skill development training to those youth who are not giving expected results in the education sector. However, by enhancing their skills, the youth of the country have done well for themselves.

“Such youth have given quality services and production. Apart from this, they have also increased their wages which has supported the country’s economy,” she said.

Toeing the lines of Singapore, Dikshit said that even the Delhi government was ready to set up such institutions.

Notably, Dikshit leading a seven-member delegation was on her three-day tour to Singapore.

The delegation visited Institute Of Technical Education and Studies based in Singapore and interacted with delegation from Singapore.

Terming her tour as successful, she said that the Delhi government will reach an agreement with Singapore to establish education institutions in the state government.

“A delegation from the country will soon visit Delhi and meet senior officials here,” she added.
