Simran Verma fell from the train following a scuffle with the assailants. She was shifted to New Delhi through Kaifiyat Express on Thursday.

According to the Government Railway Police, Simran had gone to BHU for taking part in a boxing championship. She was returning to Delhi with her team in Farakka Express when some goons tried to snatch her bag. She resisted their robbery bid, during which a scuffle ensued, and she fell from the train leading to injury in her legs.

The incident took place near the Modha railway crossing on the outskirts of Faizabad. Simran’s teammates Pawan, Sagar and Surendra accompanied her while being shifted to Delhi.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Railways) RS Gautam said that police were trying to apprehend the attacker. The sportswoman said that she had a tablet and more than Rs 30,000 cash in her bag. The bag has not been traced. Simran is a resident of Morris Nagar in the national capital.
