New Delhi: Visiting zoo will now be more enthralling experience for the Delhiites and the nature lovers. The 176 acre- National Zoological Park (commonly known as Delhi zoo) is all set to get facelift as the Central Zoo Authority (CZA) has given its nod to the Rs 150 crore renovation plan.

With the aim of reconstructing the English model of Delhi zoo as per the prevailing environmental conditions, the Delhi Zoological Park authority will introduce thirty spacious enclosures for the inmates and beautify the visitors’ gallery. Moreover, improving parking conditions is also on top of the agenda.

Under the master plan, visitors’ gallery will be equipped with amphitheatre, auditorium and activity halls. The visitors will be able to gather information about the Zoological Park and inmates with the help of audio-visual mechanism.

Moreover, setting up of aquarium, butterfly park, insectariums and rainforest are among the other fascinating features of the upgraded zoo in the National capital.

The parking area will be re-designed for the accommodation of 500 four-wheelers and 350 two-wheelers.

Amitabh Agnihotri, Director, Delhi zoo, said “The main intention of the master plan is to encourage awareness among the people about the plant and animal species in the wake of serious environmental challenges.”
