Margao: After losing the top spot to Churchill Brothers, Dempo SC will have their task cut out when they take on Sporting Clube de Goa in a 11th round I-League match on Thursday.

Both the teams will be making two changes from the last match. Dempo will be without injured defender Debabrata Roy and medio Peter Carvalho who is serving double booking.

Striker Victorino Fernandes and Mackroy Peixoto are not playing for Sporting Clube de Goa due to double bookings.

Dempo's recent slump in form, which saw them losing three successive matches and the top spot to Churchill Brothers, are on 21 points from ten matches, two points behind the leaders, who have 23 points.

Coach Armando Colaco and his boys are looking to the match as a re-launching pad at the Nehru Stadium.

Winning or losing is part of the game and there is no need to press panic button as the league is in the beginning stage with four teams closely fighting for the coveted title.

"My boys are playing well but somehow they have not been able to convert the chances that come their ways, the defense also tends to lose concentration in the closing stage which saw us lose the last two matches," stated Colaco.

"I have faith in my boys that they will give their best and win tomorrow to bounce back and regain the top spot," he said.

Sporting Clube de Goa, who had a topsy turvy outing in the league, are placed eighth with 13 points. They go into Thursday's match with their confidence high after they held mighty Mohun Bagan to a 1-1 draw.

Sporting's technical director, Alex Alvares, knows that the match is going to be tough as half of the Dempo side plays for the national team.

He wasn't willing to read much into Dempo's three successive defeats. This is a marathon league. Any team can have an off day.

"Dempo is like a wounded tiger who will come hard on us as they want to bounce back and we have to be on guard and play to our potential and win tomorrow", stated Alvares.
