New Delhi: Despite several efforts made by the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) to curb the spurt of Dengue and Chikungunya patients in the national capital, 24 new patients were tested positive for Dengue while nine new patients tested positive for Chikungunya on Monday.

With rapid spread of the vector-borne disease, the number of dengue patients has climbed to 596.

Up till now, 29 cases have been detected positive for Chikungunya. As per the official record, 29 cases of Malaria have also been reported from several parts of the city.

Moreover, the dengue virus has claimed four lives.

Attributing climatic conditions favourable for the breeding of mosquitoes, Chairman of Health Committee, MCD, Dr VK Monga said, “The drastic increase in the number of dengue patients is due to climatic condition which favours mosquito breeding. The situation will continue till November 15.”
