Lucknow: Coming up with a startling revelation in the murder of two Chief Medical Officers, Dr BP Singh and Dr Vinod Arya, in Lucknow, Cabinet Secretary Shashank Shekhar said that Deputy CMO Y S Sachan was allegedly responsible for both the murders. With the arrest of three assailants, Special Task Force (STF) has claimed to have worked out the case.

It is worth mentioning, the murder of two CMOs of Family Welfare Department in Lucknow reported in a short span of few months had not only highlighted the deteriorating law and order situation in the state but has also brought to the fore the issue of rampant corruption in government departments.

In a sudden raid on Friday, the state STF team arrested the three assailants identified as Ram Krishna Verma, Anand Tiwari and Shailendra Tiwari from the Madiyaun area of Lucknow. The STF team recovered a .32 bore pistol, a countrymade pistol of 315 bore, six live cartridges, three motorcycles and a luxury car from their possession.

Briefing mediapersons, Shekhar said, “During interrogation, the assailants informed the STF team that Deputy CMO, Family Welfare, Y S Sachan was the mastermind behind both the murders.” As per the information passed on by the assailants, both the CMOs were against the corruption in the department, therefore the Deputy CMO hatched the conspiracy to get them eliminated.

Shekhar did not fail to mention that Dr Vinod Arya had instructed Dr Sachan to stop the financial irregularities in the department following which Dr Sachan planned Dr Ayra’s murder.

Explaining the modus operandi for the crime, Shekhar said a deal was fixed between Sachan and the contract killers for Rs 7 lakh and Rs 5 lakh respectively to kill Dr BP Singh and Dr Vinod Arya.

Shekhar informed that after the death of Dr BP Singh, the Deputy CMO was given the officiating charge of the department. In his tenure of nearly five months, Dr Sachan was responsible for the gross anomalies in the buying of drugs and awarding contracts.

Annoyed by the irregularities in the department, Dr BP Singh soon after assuming charge had instructed Dr Sachan to present the official records and also threatened to lodge a case against him.

While Dr Arya was killed on October 2010, Dr Singh was shot dead on April 2, 2011 in Lucknow.
