Lucknow: In what could gauge lackadaisical attitude of the CB-CID, the files of murder cases involving police officers, ASP, SO and CO are biting dust for the past three years.

A Dalit was killed in Nimgaon police station in Lakhimpur district, regarding which the CB-CID had concluded in its investigation blaming police officials for the murder. But, no action was taken further.

In another case in which Suresh Gangapari was killed in a clash with police in 2006, the investigating agency had said in its report that the police officers were at fault, but the process of prosecution has not been completed yet.

Be it the case of Surajpal who was killed in 2009, or the incident of Naxal clash in Mirzapur and Sonebhadra, the CB-CID has always questioned the role of police in these cases.

Former police chief Yashpal Singh is of the view that the delay in such cases dents accountability of the police.

Former DG, RC Sharma says, “This is true that the cases recommended by the state government are investigated first, but owing to political interference the investigation gets affected.”
