9to5Mac has come up with new details of the laptop. The upcoming 12-inch MacBook Air sports a smaller profile than the existing 13-inch MacBook Air.

The report states that Apple has reduced the bezels around the screen on all sides.

"Besides a new look for the front of the computer, the entire unibody has been revamped from the keyboard to the trackpad to the speakers," the report stated.

The new model is expected to be a radical redesign, which will ditch standards like a full-sized USB port, a MagSafe connector and an SD card slot.

Reportedly, the model could feature a thinner frame and a high-resolution screen giving cadence to the theory of the 'Retina MacBook Air'.

A retina-display equipped MacBook Air has been in rumors for some time now. Apple has been rolling out retina-screened MacBook Pros for a few years now and its time for high-res Air.

The report further adds that the device will be available in either Q3 or Q4, but issues with Intel chipsets could cause a few delays.

As per reports, the new device will boast of a trackpad and that too without any mechanical button. The new variant is also speculated to be lightweight and ultra thin as the reports indicate absence of a cooling fan.

The MacBook Air family is a line of ultraportable notebook computers created by Apple Inc. MacBook Air was designed to balance both performance and portability. It has a full-sized keyboard design and a machined aluminium casing with extremely low weight and thickness.
