Addressing the crowds, PM Modi said,  "Politics has hampered Bihar's development; work which could have been done during AB Vajpayee's time is happening now."

He said, "I want to ensure that Bihar gets connected optimally through the rail network" adding that "Today Gas Grid based economy is taking shape. With easy availability of gas, Bihar's economy can be revitalised."

"Nitish ji said he has high hopes from our government. We are working towards fulfilling the states' needs by increasing allocation to states," added the Prime Minister.

PM listed out highway projects worth about Rs 5000 crore which have been approved in Bihar. PM Modi promised to give a bigger package than Rs 50,000 cr to the state.

Earlier, PM Modi arrived here today on a day-long visit. Governor KN Tripathi and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar welcomed PM Modi at the airport.

PM Modi will address a public meeting in Muzaffarpur to kick-start BJP's campaign for the upcoming Bihar assembly polls.

Tight security arrangements have been made after the intelligence agencies warned of a possible 'human bomb attack' on Modi on the lines of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi's assassination, a top police officer said.

Meanwhile, four suspects, including three alleged Maoists, were arrested in the morning and were interrogated, police said.

Modi's rally at Gandhi Maidan in Patna was rocked by serial bomb blasts on October 27, 2013. The blasts left five people dead and nearly 100 injured.
