Addressing the officials of his ministry, Rajnath asked them to prepare a roadmap over it adding that they should keep an eye on central funds being allocated for these regions.

At present, the Ministry of Home Affairs, Planning Commission, Ministry of Rural Development, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways are running several development schemes in Naxal-affected regions.

During the presentation on Naxal problems, Rajnath Singh expressed serious concerns over lack of co-ordination between several ministries in carrying out various schemes in Naxal-hit regions.

Currently, the Planning Commission sanctions funds under Integrated Action Plan (IAP) to state governments for development projects in these regions.

Likewise, Ministry of Road Transport and Highways constructs roads in these regions, while Ministry of Communications installs mobile towers. Rural Development Ministry looks after the various development schemes, while Ministry of Home Affairs is entrusted with providing security in the regions.

Rajnath Singh advocated for bringing all these works under a single window and forming an empowered group to look into them.

“The development works in these regions should be carried out without any delay in a time-bound manner,” Rajnath said.
