Bhopal,Feb 04(Agencies):Madhya Pradesh Director General (Prisons), VK Panwar was removed from his charge and made DG (Jail Reforms) by the State Governor.

The move comes apparently after saffron outfits expressed their displeasure at the amnesty given to five SIMI activists by the Jail Department.

Official sources said here on Friday that Panwar and some other police officials had been indicted by a Judicial Commission which had probed the death of a policeman in an encounter in Sheopur district in January 2004.

Panwar is the sixth DG in Madhya Pradesh ,who has been removed from Jails in the last three years.
