Also known as 'Dhanatrayodashi' or 'Dhanvantari Trayodashi', folks strongly believe that goddess of wealth, Lakshmi visits her true devotees and fulfil their wishes. With this the God of assets and wealth, Lord Kubera is also worshipped on this day.

Today's day of Dhanteras holds a very special significance for the business community who surely invest in precious metals like gold and silver. As they believe that on the occasion goddes Lakshmi blesses her devotees with her divine blessings. You can see various offices being decorated on this day,

Buying not only gold and silver, but even many people are seen investing in property, new vehicles, etc. Indian jewellers even see a boost in the demand of gold and silver. You can see the jewellery shops remain open till midnight where people in huge numbers are seen buying precious metals.

On 'Dhanteras' people follow a practice of buying new clothes to celebrate the festival with full zeal and enthusiasm. Folks dress up in their best ethnic wear and worship  Maa Lakshmi, followed by lighting clay diyas to surpass every evil shadow.

People even throng markets to buy new utensils as it is considered that they bring good luck to the family. They also seen purchasing vessels of brass,  Idol of Lakshmi, Omkara Idol and Ganesha too.
