Hisar: Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam (DHBVN) has been asked to launch a special campaign to recover defaulting amount, replace defective meters and check theft to bring down AT&C losses.

Haryana's Additional Chief Secretary and Chairman, Haryana Power Utilities, Ajit M Sharan has directed DHBVN to chalk out a strategy for recovery of amount from the connected and disconnected defaulting consumers, an official release said.

Sharan was addressing a meeting of officers of DHBVN here on Wednesday.

He said targets of recovery of defaulting amount have already been given to officers and asked to recover the arrears by fixing priority on the basis of amount of arrears.

He added that all out efforts should be made to recover the defaulting amount from the disconnected consumers also.

Theft of electricity is major reason of interruptions in power supply and causing loss to the Nigam, he said, adding "It should be checked by launching a special campaign. After detection of theft case, FIR must be got lodged."

Agrawal asked officers to release all those 6,000 pending tube well connections within next three months for which the farmers have deposited all charges.
