New Delhi: The sea change in the political scenario of West Bengal was not only predicted by the exit polls results, but even the cyber world had corroborated the success of Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress (TMC).

In the past three months, the official website of TMC drove huge internet traffic, especially from the fans dedicated to the firebrand leader of WB. The site witnessed a whopping increase of 640 per cent internet traffic during the aforesaid time span.

The magnitude of Didi’s popularity on web world can be gauged from the fact that within minutes of Mamata’s landslide victory in West Bengal, several celebrities had posted their congratulation messages on ‘Twitter’.

According to the latest figures of alexa.com which keeps database of the website, majority of the surfers to the Trinamool-Congress website (www.aitmc.org) were more than 30-years old.

Social networking websites like Facebook and Twitters played an instrumental role in drawing the attention of youngsters and helping TMC in registering a thumping victory in the WB assembly polls. To bring about the ‘Parivartan’ in the Left dominated state, a lot of homework was done from the hi-tech profiling of Trinamool chief, who is known among the masses for her down-to-earth persona.
