Chandigarh: The three major cities of Punjab viz Amritsar, Jalandhar and Ludhiana would witness only CNG/LPG fuelled autos on roads.

Besides, no permit would be issued for the autos running on other fuel nor the current contractor carriage permits would be renewed.

The decision for the same was taken during a cabinet meeting headed by Punjab CM Prakash Singh Badal, here on Tuesday.

It was also decided in the meeting that all the autos would charge the fare as per the Punjab Motor Vehicle Rules.

The cabinet also gave the nod for the implementation of the City Transport Project in Amritsar and Ludhiana.

A decision was also taken regarding the bus fare. Now, the fare in AC buses for a distance of first five kilometers as per the city bus service would be Rs 5, and the commuters would have to pay Rs 15 for travelling a distance of 5-10 kilometers and Rs 20 for the distance of upto 15 kms.
