“Shocked at the Opportunistic behaviour of RK Singh ex HS. Why did he not bring this to the notice of Cabinet Secretary or the PM?” he said on micro-blogging site Twitter.

Earlier on Monday, the former home secretary accused Shinde of shielding a businessman close to India’s most wanted terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.

In his interview to TV channels, the former home secretary claimed that the Delhi Police was stopped by Shinde from questioning a Mumbai-based businessman, who is said to have ‘some kind of links’ with Dawood Ibrahim, in connection with the betting in Indian Premier League (IPL) tournament.

Acknowledging the charges as serious, Digvijay said,” His charges are extremely serious and if he kept quiet then he is guilty also of not fulfilling his assigned responsibility. Shocking!”

He also launched scathing attack on the former home secretary and questioned his credibility. “Is it not a fact that he tried to get a post retirement position from UPA? Is it not a fact that he approached Nitish for a position?” he said in his tweet.

The former home secretary’s allegations came just days after Shinde assured that India and US were making joint efforts to bring Dawood to India.
