New Delhi: Lauding former prime minister Manmohan Singh and UPA chairperson Sonia Gandhi for fulfilling their commitment, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday said the formation of India’s 29 state Telangana would not have taken place without their efforts.
“Let us also not forget that without Sonia ji and Dr MM Singhji this wouldn't have been possible. They fulfilled the commitment made,” Digvijay tweeted. (JPN)
Wishing the new born state a healthy future, he added, “New States of Telengana and Andhra Pradesh come into existence. My best wishes to People of both Sates.”
The Congress general secretary congratulated TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao and TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu.
“I am sure through a healthy competitive spirit and mutual cooperation both States would grow. Best wishes to KCR and Chandra Babu Naidu,” he said.
K Chandrasekhar Rao earlier in the day took oath as the first Chief Minister of newly created Telangana, the 29th state of India.
Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to Rao and 11 other Cabinet members at a ceremony held at the Raj Bhavan in Hyderabad this morning.
“Let us also not forget that without Sonia ji and Dr MM Singhji this wouldn't have been possible. They fulfilled the commitment made,” Digvijay tweeted.
