Bhopal: Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh said that he would like Rahul Gandhi, who also happens to be a Congress general secretary, to become the nation's prime minister.

"I have always believed that Rahul should become Prime Minister and the day he occupies the post will be a matter of great happiness for all of us," he told reporters.

Singh was asked if he still stood by his earlier statement that Rahul should be the Prime Minister of the country.

His comments come in the wake of an article published by 'The Economist', a British magazine, that Union Finance Minister Palaniappan Chidambaram could be the nation's next Prime Minister.
