He said that Congress candidate Imran Masood was arrested immediately for making inflammatory statement but only two FIRs have been lodged so far in case of Shah.

“Imran Masood was arrested immediately but in spite of two FIRs Amit Shah case, he is still free and communalizing election. Double standards of Uttar Pradesh government,” he wrote on twitter.

On Sunday, two FIRs were filed in Bijnore and Muzaffarnagar districts Against Shah.

Shah was booked under Section 153 of the IPC (inciting people) and Section 125 of the Representation of the People Act (promoting enmity between different classes).

Chief Electoral Officer Umesh Sinha said that Shah's statement was found to be objectionable and in violation of the Model Code of Conduct.

Shah triggered a controversy with his comment that the general election, especially in western Uttar Pradesh, is ‘an election for honour. It is an election to take revenge for the insult. It is an election to teach a lesson to those who have committed injustice’.

Congress candidate from Saharanpur, Imran Masood, was earlier arrested on charges of hate speech against BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi. Later, he was granted bail by a Deoband court.
