The Congress leader also questioned the BJP's claim of a wave in favour of Modi while accusing the party of engineering defections.

“In a Modi wave why is BJP engineering defections and giving seats to defectors? What happens to BJP loyalists? Modi bigger than BJP and RSS?” he wrote on microblogging site twitter.

The Congress general secretary’s remarks come at a time when the Shiv Sena has hit out at the BJP for treating Lal Krishna Advani unfairly. In an editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamna’, party chief Uddhav Thackeray questioned why the party took so long to decide on the BJP patriarch’s Lok Sabha seat.

The Congress leader also alluded to the internal rift within the main Opposition party in the backdrop of senior leaders being denied the choice of tickets.

The BJP has denied a ticket to senior leader Jaswant Singh and instead decided to field recent entrant Colonel (retired) Sonaram Choudhary from Barmer.

The denial of ticket to Singh, who is considered close to Advani, comes after the party patriarch was virtually forced to choose the Gandhinagar seat in Gujarat against his wishes to contest from Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

There is speculation that Singh might contest as an independent but there is no confirmation as of now.

Congress had earlier said Modi was the ‘epicentre’ of all troubles within the saffron outfit.
