New Delhi: Hearing a suit filed by Stephen College authorities, Delhi High Court has put bar on using the name "St Stephen's College Alumni Association" which was formed by Congress MP Sandeep Dikshit.

Justice V K Jain has asked Dikshit not to call his alumni body as “St Stephen’s College Alumni Association”. However, the court has given permission to call it as “Association of Old Stephenians”.

Alumni body cannot use the official college crest, logo or motto of St Stephen's College, Delhi as also the domain name St. Stephen's, said the justice on Wednesday.

He said, "Dikshit will be entitled to use name of the Association of Old Stephenians provided that it will display an appropriate disclaimer on its website that it is not the official/approved/recognised alumni of Association of St. Stephens and it has no connection or affiliation either with the St. Stephens College or St. Stephenes College Association and Executives."

Opposing Dikshit’s move, the college authorities said there is already an alumni association of the college called ‘St Stephen's College Alumni Association and Executive’ existing for the last 50 years and is involved in various constructive activities for the welfare of institution.
