Chandigarh: Punjab Finance Minister Parminder Singh Dhindsa on Friday alleged that "disoriented" policies of the Congress-led UPA government has left the country in the "grip of economic slowdown".

He also said that the economic growth of all sates has drastically plunged due to "impractical" policies of the Centre.

Punjab, however, managed to attain 6.74 per cent growth for 11th five year plan against the target of 5.90 per cent, he said.

Although Punjab is a smaller province but its Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2011-12 was Rs 1,57,455 crore, whereas its Per Capita Income remained at Rs 46,788, which is three times more than Per Capita Income of states like Bihar, Dhindsa said.
He said that Bihar recorded Per Capita Income of Rs 15,268 and its GDP was 1,63,439 crore.
