New Delhi: The Central government has decided to give concessions to exporters as a Diwali bonanza. Apart this, construction industry has also been given relief.

The government has removed limitations of lock-in-period and minimum built up area in the construction of shelters for elderly people and educational institutions with immediate effect.

Commerce and Industry Minister Anand Sharma took this decision while heading the industry-government task force in order to tackle the economic slowdown.

Sharma informed about government’s stand on duty drawback and ending of duty entitlement passbook scheme from October 1.

“We are in constant touch with Export Promotion Councils to provide sops to the exporters,” said Sharma.

Observing the lack of basic structure in education sector, Sharma said there was a need of foreign investments to build a world class infrastructure.

The task force was constituted during the meeting between country’s top industrialists and Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
