New Delhi: Jat protesters’ threat to halt water supply to the national capital on March 19 has given sleepless night to the Delhi Jal Board (DJB) officials. All India Jat Reservation Committee has been staging protests for long time seeking reservations in government jobs.

DJB, CEO Devashree Mukherjee has shot off a letter to Uttar Pradesh government seeking help to avoid any untoward situation arising out of protestors’ threat. However, Mukherjee is optimistic about undisrupted water supply to Delhi. The officials deputed at Muradnagar regulator have been asked to remain alert, added Mukherjee.

Sources said that the protestors may damage the regulator at Gangnahar in Muradnagar in Uttar Pradesh to cut off water supply. Such incident also happened two years ago. Water is supplied from Gangnahar in Muradnagar to Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi treatment plants.

It’s worth mentioning that Sonia Vihar and Bhagirathi water plants supply water to South Delhi and East Delhi respectively. If the Jat protestors succeed in its mission, water supply in Delhi will be badly affected.
