Chennai: After opposing FDI in multi-brand retail, key UPA constituent DMK on Thursday remained evasive on increasing the cap on foreign investment in insurance sector.
"We always support workers' struggles," was the terse reply by the party chief M Karunanidhi when reporters sought his response to the recent cabinet move.
As part of the second economic reforms, the Union Cabinet had recently increased the FDI cap in insurance sector from 26 per cent to 49 per cent, drawing criticism from opposition parties.
DMK has opposed FDI in multi-brand retail and had joined the September 20 nation-wide protest.
