New Delhi: The investigating agencies probing the case of Rs 50 crore received by Kalaignar TV from the promoter of S Tel is all set to tighten noose around Chief Minister M Karunanidhi’s daughter and MP Kanimozhi.

The balance sheet of Kalaignar television and statement of former Additional Private Secretary of A Raja, Aseervatham Achary have posed many questions on the role of Kanimozhi.

Promoter of S Tel, S Shivashankaran’s Shiva group’s company, High Tech Housing Projects, had given Rs 50 crore to Kalaignar TV through Sahara group and telecom investment.

According to the investigating agencies, the balance sheet of Kalaignar channel reveals the amount was collected by the director of the channel, Kanimozhi. This is also confirmed by the statement given by Achari before the magistrate.

In a statement, under the section 164 of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), Achary confessed that Kanimozhi played an active role in the entire scam. The statement given under the section 164 is considered as an evidence against the guilty.

According to the Enforcement Directorate (ED), the amount received by the channel is strong evidence against the Karunanidhi family accused in the 2G scam.

Similarly, DB Realty owner Shahid Balwa, promoter of Swan, through Cineyug gave Rs 214 crore to Kalaignar. But, the balance sheet states unsecured loan in this case.

CBI has interrogated Kanimozhi and Karunanidhi’s wife Dayalu last month and is set to file a chargesheet on April 25. They are said to have 80 per cent share in the channel.
