Among these localities is the busy educational and transport hub of Dhaula Kuan, which already has a Metro station on the Airport Express Link.
Another station, 'South Campus', will come up on the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor in the same locality, which will be useful for Delhi University students travelling to colleges in Dhaula Kuan.
One of the biggest residential areas of the city, Mayur Vihar, currently has two stations —— Mayur Vihar Phase 1 and
Mayur Vihar Extension. Another station to cater to the interior parts of the locality named 'Mayur Vihar Pocket 1' will come up on the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor.
Punjabi Bagh, the west Delhi residential-cum-commercial hub, currently has one station on the Inderlok to Mundka corridor and one more station named 'Punjabi Bagh West' will come up on the Mukundpur-Shiv Vihar corridor under Phase III.
The capital's IT hub, Nehru Place, will get another station named 'Nehru Enclave', which is expected to come up on the other side of the outer Ring Road on the Janakpuri West– Botanical Garden route.
Nehru Place already has a station on the Central Secretariat–Badarpur corridor.
The Okhla industrial area, which attracts a lot of workers and executives who visit the area everyday for work, at present has only one Metro station, 'Okhla', on the existing Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor.
The proposed Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden corridor will have two more stations here named 'Okhla Phase 3' and 'Okhla
Jasola, an upcoming residential and commercial area in south Delhi, currently has just got the 'Jasola Apollo' station on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor. Under Phase III, another station with the name 'Jasola Vihar Shaheen Bagh' will come up on the Janakpuri West–Botanical Garden route.
Another major residential area of the city, Rohini, has two stations, Rohini East and Rohini West on the Dwarka–NOIDA
corridor. Here, the 'Rohini Sector 18' station will come up on the Jahangirpuri-Badli stretch to provide direct connectivity between Rohini and Gurgaon.
The posh Greater Kailash and East of Kailash areas of south Delhi, which are served by the Kailash Colony station on the Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor, will now have another station, Greater Kailash, which is to come up on the Janakpuri West–Botanical Garden corridor.
With the objective of providing better connectivity, 14 interchange stations will also come up at Azadpur, Netaji Subhash Place, Rajouri Garden, INA, Lajpat Nagar, Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Anand Vihar, Welcome (all on Yamuna Vihar-Mukundpur corridor), Janakpuri West, Hauz Khas, Kalkaji Mandir, Botanical Garden (Janakpuri West-Botanical Garden), Mandi House, Kashmere Gate (Central Secretariat-Kashmere Gate corridor).
Delhi Metro records an average ridership of 26 lakh per day. At present, there are nine interchange stations on the network.
