Ahmadabad: Generally, DNA tests are more prevalent in metro cities but in a somewhat unique incident here a son took this test to prove his legitimacy to his father.

Soham’s (name changed, 23) father is a well known textile trader in Surat. To avoid public disgrace he kept his son in his own house and was giving him Rs 100 as pocket money per day to keep his mouth shut.

When Soham came to know about the DNA test from a newspaper, he contacted Salil Vaniwala, who runs a DNA test centre in Surat and provided the samples.

After the test proved Soham’s point, now his father has not only accepted him but also acknowledged him as his heir.
