Washington: Dogs can help people deal with a multitude of problems such as stress.

They were in Boston to help people, who were grieving for the bombing victims and they were also present in the aftermath of superstorm Sandy.

Two dogs that are part of the Good Dog Foundation of New York are helping people in distress.

Finn and Emma, who are a mixed breed of poodle and wheaten terrier, live with their owners, Moschell and Jeremy Coffey, in Greenwich Village, a daily reported.

Moschell said that it has been proven that dogs help lower blood-pressure, stress, and decrease anxiety just by offering their unconditional love and support.

She asserted that the dogs love the work and really get excited to comfort people and to be able to have lots of attention from people.

Actor Daren Kelly described what the dogs are doing as medicine; he said that it's a therapy and distraction, which helps you get through.

The results of a 3-year study to show if dogs lower stress for cancer sufferers are expected to be published later this year.
