Low cost carrier IndiGo, which recently got listed on the bourses, maintained its leadership position with a market share of 36.8 percent in October. It flew as many as 25.90 lakh passengers last month.
    
With a load factor of 93 percent, rival SpiceJet saw the maximum occupancy in its planes in October while its market share stood at 12.8 percent during the same period. Load factor refers to seat occupancy per aircraft.
    
Latest data from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) showed that local carriers flew 70.39 lakh passengers last month compared to 59.25 lakh people in the same period of 2014.

During October, national carrier Air India ferried 10.88 lakh passengers and its market share reached 15.5 percent.     

Jet Airways and JetLite together flew 14.95 lakh people while their individual market share stood at 18.80 percent and 2.60 percent, respectively.

In terms of On-Time Performance (OTP), IndiGo was on the top with 89.6 percent, followed by SpiceJet (86.9 percent).
    
During the 2015 January-October period, local carriers flew 6.61 crore passengers. This is an increase of 20 percent compared to the year-ago period when the same stood at 5.51 crore passengers.
