Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan protested against Dow Chemical Company's sponsorship of the 2012 London Olympics.

In a letter to Union Sports Minister Ajay Maken, he urged the Centre to boycott the London Olympics 2012, if the Dow’s sponsorship continues in the mega sporting event.

He also reminded the Minister of the Dow Chemical's connection with the 1984’s Bhopal Gas Tragedy, the world's worst industrial catastrophe.

He further stated that so far the matter is sub-judice and the dues are still pending with the Dow Chemical Company, besides the case has a direct involvement of the Indian Government.

The world’s foremost sports competition upholds the values of fair play, honesty and healthy endeavour, said Shivraj Singh, while expressing inappropriateness of the company’s stake in sponsorship which is responsible for the horrifying gas tragedy.

He said the funds proposed for sponsoring the Olympics would be better utilized in reducing the miseries of the victims of the gas tragedy.
