New Delhi: The Central government has been urged to release financial aid for Bundelkhand which has been reeling under acute drought condition for many years. Samajwadi Party MP Rewati Raman citing the pitiable condition of the farmers in the Bundelkhand region has urged the Centre to release Rs 7500 crore for the drought-hit region.

Rewati said, “Due to the drought and burden of loan many farmers had committed suicide. The lack of fodder for the animals has resulted in the death of many domestic animals. The condition is deteriorating day after day.”

The Central government should immediately provide financial assistance to improve the situation that will check the migration of people, he added.

Notably, the Centre had earlier released a hefty package for Bundelkhand, but work could not be initiated.
