Jammu: Drug and Food Control Organisation on Saturday seized drugs from Lakhanpur in Kathua district. Thousand bottles of banned drugs were consigned to Delhi based National Pharma in Bhagirath Place and to Saifayer Enterprises from Uphar Bhawan in Srinagar.

Acting on a tip-off, the Drug and Food Control officials conducted a search operation at barricade in the city. During the search operation, truck (JK05A-1996) containing Recodex syrup was seized. The seized drugs were manufactured by Himachal Pradesh based Biogenetic Drugs Pvt Ltd.

700 bottles of 100 ml each of batch number WUBI-1140 and 299 bottles of batch number WUBI-1106 were found.

Codeine phosphate, which is a banned drug, was found in each bottle. Drug and Food Control Organisation controller Satish Gupta also directed to conduct raids at branches of M/s Saifayer Enterprises. He has also ordered to keep an eye on the movements of Voc Hazards including other drug suppliers. The seized consignment worth about Rs 68,200 in wholesale market.
