Sydney: Scientists are working to develop a drug treatment that might replace gastric bypass operations in order to help obese patients lose weight.

British researchers have created long-lasting hormones that trick patients' brains into thinking that they have eaten enough food, a daily reported.

The research conducted by Imperial College London have just finished with the first tests in patients with positive results and are now preparing to start larger trials.

They are hoping that the use of the new drug will provide a safer alternative to surgery, which is quite expensive.
