New Delhi: While travelling in Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses, you need not ask other passengers or even conductor about the next stop. The DTC management has decided to come up with a new technology to be installed in the DTC buses which will announce about the next bus stop. Such facility is currently available only in Delhi Metro and cluster buses.

On an experimental basis, the system has been installed in 23 DTC buses. Delhi Integrated Multi Modal Transit System Limited (DITMS) has been entrusted with this task. Sources say that it will be mandatory for all DTC buses to install this technology from next month.

The management has also decided to install ‘Passengers Information System’ which will display the routes of buses, time table and other related information. Interestingly, this project was proposed before 2010 Commonwealth games.

DTC spokesperson Sharat Kumar told the system will also be synchronized with the Global Positioning System (GPS) which will help in tracking the buses and making announcement as well. This technology will be installed only in AC and Non-AC low floor buses.
