New Delhi: In a bid to monitor the behaviour of undisciplined drivers, conductors and commuters towards other passengers, the Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is going to raise the fleet of mobile squad teams in the national capital.

The squad teams will constantly be vigilant on the identified routes covering almost the entire city. The mobile teams will conduct a surprise check on the buses to curb violations.

On an area of over one lakh km, there will be one mobile squad team to keep a tab. The entire fleet of DTC buses covers more than 11 lakh km and there are only five specialized vehicles to monitor them. The DTC is set to add six more vehicles raising the fleet to 11within a week following, which the drive will become active.

According to the official sources, there have been several complaints against errant drivers and conductors who misbehave with the passengers. “A few have been rowdy enough to elude the query of commuters. At times, they skip bus stops. Hence, the drive aims to discipline the staff to prevent any chaosm” sources said.

If the senior officials are to be believed, the squad will not only nab the passengers travelling without tickets but will also keep a tab over those conductors who misbehave with senior citizens and other passengers onboard DTC.
