New Delhi: The group of people affected by the Damodar Valley Corporation on Monday staged protest at the Jantar Mantar in the national capital.

The protesters included people from Bihar, West Bengal and Jharkhand and they demanded plots in lieu of their acquired land.

They pressed for a government job for one member of the aggrieved families.

Also present on the occasion was social activist Medha Patkar.

“The Union Rural Development Ministry has prepared draft of Land Acquisition and Rehabilitation Law upon which the Standing Committee is discussing. It’s ironical that around 10 core displaced people have still not been rehabilitated.”

The protest was attended by the members of the Land Acquisition Mahasabha and Ghatwar Mahasabha.
