Los Angeles: Justin Bieber's fans can now own a bit of their idol as several locks of the teen popstar's hair are being sold on the Internet auction site, eBay, by TV host Ellen DeGeneres for charity.

The 16-year-old singer recently chopped off his famous fringe and the hair is now lidste on eBay with a current bid of USD 7,200.

The 'Baby' hitmaker gifted the unusual item to the TV host encased in a Plexiglas box along with his autograph, when he appeared on her talk show 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show'.

The 53-year-old host had earlier expressed her desire on Twitter to have some of Bieber's hair.
"That's my hair. I'm giving pieces of it to different people. We're doing something special. We want you to donate it to whatever charity you want to," said Bieber after handing over his hair.

The sale ends on March 2 and the unusual item has attracted the interest of 61 users. DeGeneres is donating all proceeds from the auction to animal rescue foundation 'The Gentle Barn'.

The young star who celebrates his 17th birthday next Tuesday was keen on changing his trademark hairstyle before the big day.

"I just wanted to, that's all, not really a big reason. I just woke up and said, I don’t want this anymore, so I just cut it," said Bieber.
